      When the night is clear, and you can see shadows on the moon. According to an old Chinese folktale, they are the sahdows of the cinnamon tree in the moon. This tree came to be because of the laziness of an inmortal, Wu Kang.
     
      Wu Kang was in charge of guarding the dragon. However he was lazy. As he drank wine, and often allowed the dragon to run away. One day , he went to Mount K'un Lun. While he was there. When during that time, he met some of his friends. They began to drink winw compose poems, and throw dice. He continued to drink, even after night came. While he drank some more. When finally, he became completely tipsy. After he saw some fellows playing chess, so he asked to join them. They advised him t go home because they knew he was being negligent, but Wu Kang offered to wager the dragon's pearl. As soon as they played a few moves of the game. When then Wu Kang lost the pearl. He had wagered and lost the dragon pearl. Immediately, he wagered and lost the mighty dragon. The Immortals learned of the loss. They were furious. They immediately sowed a pearl in the ground and a tall cinnamon tree grew from it. The tree reached a great height. After that, they gave Wu Kang an axe and told him to cut off the branches. he had cut off all the branches. Immediately after that, bigger ones sprouted and grew. Wu Kang had to cut them off too. Wu Kang is still there to this day cutting off branches. Now you see shadows on the moon, and you will know that they are the branches of the cinnamon tree falling down.

1. When they convincing young peolple of the value of education, teachers often tell the story of Frederick Douglass's life and many accomplishments.
2. Frederick Douglass (1818-1895) was a famous African-American speaker,editor and statesman who started out life as a slave.
3. The woman he served started to teach him the alphabet but her husband insisted that she stop because teaching a slave to read was against the law.
4. After having ceased teaching him, she worked hard to make sure he didn't learn anything more.
5. Frederick Douglass, however, already desperately was wanting to learn to read.
6. He made friends with the poor white boys who had lived in the neighborhood.
7. While he was running errands, he traded some food for a quick reading lesson and still made it home at time to avoid suspicion.
8. Douglass did not tell these boy's names in his autobiography, because he did not want to cause them trouble.
9. Douglass taught over forty slaves to read, until their masters found out and violently broke up the lessons.
10. Today, frederick Douglass has become one of the most well-known americans of the Civil War era.
